Office Pod for 4 People

The Shelter Team Office Pod is designed to accommodate up to 4 people, with a floor area of approximately 3.3 m² (external dimensions: 220 × 150 × 230 cm). It’s perfect for impromptu team meetings, workshops lasting several hours, or a quick phone call. For smaller use cases, there’s the Single Pod (1 person) and the Double Pod (2 people).

The Team Pod achieves 30 dB according to ISO 23351-1 Class A, the highest class in the standard for speech privacy in office cubicles. A normal conversation of around 60 dB is thus reduced to a whisper level of about 30 dB. Class A is the standard for confidential conversations such as HR meetings, banking consultations, or legal advice. The Pod also works when placed less than 2 m away from the nearest workstation, without allowing clear speech recognition from the outside. The effect on performance has been proven: In a field study, cognitive performance increased by about 17% when moving from an open, noisy area to a quiet area, and by about 22% when moving to a private, enclosed room (Jahncke & Hallman, 2020). Another study shows that easily accessible quiet zones reduce distractions and symptoms of stress in open-plan offices (Haapakangas et al., 2018).

The Team Pod is made primarily of certified Swiss ash wood (VOC-free, with the “Swiss Wood” certificate), along with brass, glass, and stainless steel. The interior acoustic panels are covered with OEKO-TEX®-certified, PFC-free fabric. The acoustic glass (37 dB Rw) also comes from Switzerland. While many pods rely on particleboard, coated steel, or carbon composite, we use solid wood. It lasts longer, doesn’t splinter, feels better, and ages more gracefully.

In Switzerland, with a production radius of less than 100 km from Zurich and over 93% Swiss value added. The ash wood comes from certified Swiss forests and bears the Swiss Wood Certificate (Swiss Wood origin label). In the Swiss procurement context (Minergie, SNBS, DGNB), this certificate carries more weight than a simple FSC designation.

The Team Pod costs CHF 13,860 to purchase (excl. VAT) or starts at CHF 282 per month to rent (5-year term). When depreciated over 5 to 10 years, the effective monthly cost of purchase is around CHF 105 to 150—cheaper than any rental plan—and the Pod is yours to keep. Leasing is a good option if you first want to test which Pod model suits your team, or if treating the monthly operating expense as a business expense is more advantageous for tax purposes than making the investment.

In terms of sound insulation, the Team Pod, at 30 dB (ISO 23351-1), is on par with its strongest competitors, such as the Framery Four, Hush Free M, and Silen Space 4. In terms of price, starting at CHF 13,860, it is significantly more affordable than a Framery Four (starting at approx. CHF 20,000) and competitive with Hush (approx. CHF 16,500) or Silen (approx. CHF 16,000). The biggest difference lies in the materials and origin: The Team Pod is the only one made from certified Swiss solid wood and produced in Switzerland, while most competitors rely on particleboard or powder-coated steel from Finland, Poland, Estonia, or Germany. No—and that's a deliberate choice. The Team Pod is maintenance-free: no touchscreens, no software updates, no IT maintenance. Ventilation and lighting run independently of any software. In pods with a touchscreen, it is precisely this electronic system that often becomes the weak point—if it fails, ventilation and lighting can become partly unusable. For booking, we recommend integrating the Pod into your existing room-booking system (Outlook or Google) rather than adding a separate standalone system. An external display such as ROOMZ can be added on request.

The ventilation system refreshes the air every 45 seconds (383 m³/h) and operates almost silently. Even during longer meetings with four people, the air remains fresh, with no audible fan noise inside or outside.

The Team Pod features 2× 30W fast-charging USB-C ports and 1× 230V outlet (additional outlets available as an option; LAN available upon request). The lighting consists of 2 dimmable LEDs providing up to 500 lux on the table. The height-adjustable solid wood table offers space for both a laptop and a monitor; a fixed or swivel monitor mount is available upon request.

Delivery in Switzerland takes about 6 weeks, and on-site assembly takes about 120 minutes. Shorter delivery times are possible depending on availability. Since the pod is on casters, it can be moved around the office at any time.

No. The Team Pod is a freestanding piece of furniture with no connection to the building’s utilities: no water, no ventilation, no heating, and no drilling into walls or ceilings. Legally, it is considered movable furniture (a “room-within-a-room” solution), not a structural alteration. This means that neither a building permit nor approval is required, not even in rental properties. When you move out, there are no dismantling costs and no conflicts with the landlord, because you do not alter the building’s structure. If you change locations, you can easily take the Pod with you thanks to its casters and the fact that it can be disassembled. We’re happy to install sprinklers or smoke detectors if needed.

The Team Pod comes with a 2-year warranty. All components are modular and interchangeable, which makes repairs and long-term use easy. The Pod is certified by, among others, Swiss Label (Swiss-made), the Swiss Wood Certificate, REACH compliance, and CE for its electrical components. The upholstery fabric is fire-rated according to EN 1021-1/2 and BS 5852, OEKO-TEX® certified, and extremely abrasion-resistant with over 100,000 Martindale cycles (EN ISO 12947-2).

Yes. As a piece of movable office furniture with a useful life of several years, the Team Pod is typically classified as a fixed asset in the Swiss context and depreciated over its useful life (typically 7 to 10 years). Compared to a permanently installed drywall meeting room (CHF 15,000 to 30,000, non-mobile, requiring a permit), the Pod is typically 40 to 60% less expensive over a 5-year period and remains flexible.
